Continence challenges affect people across every stage of life and every kind of disability. They affect daily functioning, independence, confidence, sleep, work, and relationships, often in ways that go unaddressed for far too long.
Finding a specialist who genuinely understands the connection between disability, the nervous system, and continence is hard anywhere in Australia.
Bright Lives is here to change that via telehealth across Ulladulla, Milton, and Batemans Bay for children and adults alike.
Who We Support?

Continence challenges can affect anyone. We provide assessments for:
-
Children and young people with autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, and other neurodivergent profiles
-
Adults with acquired brain injury, spinal cord and neurological conditions, physical disability, intellectual disability, or psychosocial disability
-
Older adults experiencing changes in continence related to ageing, illness, or disability
-
Anyone whose continence challenges are affecting their daily functioning, independence, dignity, or participation in everyday life
You don't need a specific diagnosis to access a continence assessment. If continence is affecting how someone is able to live their daily life, that's the reason to reach out.
What we look at - and why it matters
A continence assessment with Bright Lives is not a tick-box process.
Our Clinical Nurse Consultant looks at the full picture of what's driving the challenge.
Because continence is almost never just about the bladder or bowel in isolation.
We assess:
-
Bladder and bowel function - what's happening clinically
-
Functional daily life impact - how continence challenges are affecting the person's ability to participate in everyday activities, relationships, work, school, and community life
-
Sensory processing and interoception - how well the person recognises and responds to internal body signals
-
Anxiety, routine, and environmental factors
-
Communication and support needs
-
Current products and whether they're the right fit
The clinical report documents all of this, the person's functional needs, the strategies that will actually help, and appropriate product recommendations. For NDIS participants, it supports funding applications and plan reviews. For everyone, it gives you a clear, evidence-based picture of what's needed and why.

Not sure if your plan covers a continence assessment? Get in touch before you book, and we'll work through it with you.
Private pay
You don't need an NDIS plan to access a continence assessment. We see privately-funded clients at our standard clinical rate, the same rate for everyone, regardless of how they're funded.
If cost is a concern, please reach out. We'll always have an honest conversation about what's possible.
